Gift picks: Mark+Fold collaborators

Gift picks: Mark+Fold collaborators

It has been a big year for Mark+Fold, and we have had the great pleasure of collaborating with a whole host of wonderful creatives, writers and makers. So we thought it would be fun to hear from some of them on their favourite Christmas traditions, plans for 2026, and Mark+Fold gift picks, to give you some inspiration!

Rosamund Dean, journalist

Rosamund and Amy met earlier this year thanks to their shared love of walks in Highgate Woods and a healthy obsession with notebooks. We welcomed Rosamund as guest writer back in October to share her thoughts on why 2026 is the year she will be returning to a paper diary.

What is your favourite Christmas tradition?

Throughout the year, whenever something good happens, we write it down on a scrap of paper and pop it in our "jar of good things". It might be a fun birthday party, a good holiday, or simply a nice long walk in the woods. Then, at some point between Christmas and New Year, we read them all out. My husband and I started doing this with just the two of us, when the kids were babies, but now all four of us take it in turns to pick something out and read it aloud. It's a really nice way to mark the end of the year.

What’s in the Diary for 2026?

The kids are not back at school until 6 January, so the first week of the year will be spent at my mum's house in Scotland: eating, sleeping, watching movies and generally easing into the year.

The Notebook Gift Box in Flint. I'm a notebook addict, and can never have too many. Every book I own has brass page markers showing where a line has really caught my imagination, so I always need more of those. Plus, with two kids doing endless homework, I'm always in need of a pencil and eraser!

Kaori Maki, bookbinder

Kaori is a multi-award wining bookbinder who trained in Japan before settling in London where she is a co-owner of Wyvern Bindery in Hackney. She has collaborated with us for a number of years on our most special limited editions, which she meticulously hand-makes in the workshop in the heart of Hoxton Street Market. She most recently worked with us on our 10th Birthday Editions of 10.

Margo Selby, British textile artist

Margo is best known for her icon bold geometric patterns created on a traditional wooden loom at her workshop in Whitstable. In recent years she has expanded into creating large-scale artworks for vast spaces like Canterbury Cathedral, which are woven by a ‘relay’ team of weavers and take months to create. We had the privilege to collaborate with Margo for the second time this year, with her Shuttle II artwork featuring on our 10th Birthday Edition notebooks

We have a big boxing day party welcoming lots of the Whitstable community for some festive excess, including karaoke in the loom house until the early hours.

We are hand-weaving Vestements for Blackburn Cathedral's centenary next year, its a very special project which is keeping all the weavers busy.

The 2026 Diary in Mustard and Classic Notebook | Mustard. My favourite colour  —  like gold, it compliments all other colours.

Vicki Hipwell, Bookbinder

Vicki has been bookbinding since the age of 8, when her grandfather started teaching her how to use the Singer-sewing machine. Many years later she and her brother David took over the family business, specialising in hand-binding and sewing. Vicki sews our Exercise Books, 2026 Monthly Planners and Community Clothing Notebooks. This picture was taken last week in Czech Republic — after viewing a sewing machine. Yes it was snowing!

What is your favourite Christmas tradition?

It’s probably getting the tree down from the loft and putting it up on an afternoon as it’s getting dark — 1 to 2 weeks before Christmas Day. Christmas music will be playing in the background.

It always makes me think of my childhood, and helping dad put the family tree up. I can almost smell the years old cardboard box all the tinsel and decorations used to be kept in. It used to bring such excitement.

My other (more recent) tradition is going to ring the bells on Christmas Morning. There is something extra special about ringing out the church bells to the village on Christmas Day.

What’s in the diary for 2026?

In 2026 I hope to visit more customers with ‘hopefully’ some exciting news on a new machine we are looking into.

In my personal life — I have a road trip to see Dad in Portugal booked for June. I don’t see him as much since he moved there in 2014 - so that time is super precious to me. We always have fun and get up to something creative when we are together. 2 years ago I helped him make a grandfather clock, bookshelves with books and other street decorations all from tissue paper & cardboard for the Festa dos Tabuleiros and got a certificate for my contribution! He also made the most amazing bi-plane to hang from a restaurant ceiling.

I would like to find my favourite, a 2026 Monthly Planner, under the tree. It’s so easy to check ahead using it. But also a 2026 Wall Planner poster would be on my wish list so I can see in one glance that long awaited Portugal trip getting closer!

Oscar Oades, designer

Oskar first helped out at Mark+Fold back in 2015, when his dad Mike (founder of Atomik Architecture) was sharing a studio with Amy in Dalston in the very early days of Mark+Fold. At that time he had just finished his A-levels, and he continued to help out around the studio during holidays and weekends for several years before going off to work as a designer at Landor & Fitch, but we were very lucky to steal him back for a few days to help us out at the pop-up shop!

What is your favourite Christmas tradition?

The Christmas Day walk (with an optional stop at the pub).

What’s in the diary for 2026?

Got some big birthdays next year — my mum's 70th and my 30th. Apart from that I have a feeling 2026 is going to be a year of change and new beginnings — very much looking forward to what it brings.

It has to be one of the Marmor Editions of 10. The marbling is so beautiful and I love an orange accent.
