Amy in Monocle's Sunday Roast

Amy in Monocle's Sunday Roast

This weekend, Mark+Fold founder Amy was invited to share her Sunday rituals for Monocle Magazine's Sunday Roast

Amy Cooper-Wright is the founder and creative director of British stationery brand Mark+Fold. This week, Cooper-Wright is marking its 10th anniversary with a pop-up on London’s Brick Lane. Here, she tells us where she finds fresh produce in north London and discusses her French wine collection and winter wardrobe staples.

Where will we find you this weekend?

At the Mark+Fold pop-up shop. This is our last weekend, after a few weeks in the heart of Shoreditch. We’re in a beautiful space, which we have turned into a stationery lover’s mecca with the help of our friends at Another Country. They loaned us some gorgeous oak furniture for our displays.

Ideal start to a Sunday? Gentle or a jolt?

Lie-ins are sacred in the Cooper-Wright home! Our kids get themselves up on the weekend and entertain each other with breakfast until we get up. I relish my weekend-morning routine of good coffee and the papers in my dressing gown.

What’s for breakfast?

On Sundays, we often make pancakes. I know a recipe by heart that’s based on Breton farz buan, which I learned to make when I lived in France (a tablespoon of flour and sugar per egg and enough milk to reach the right consistency – all cooked in plenty of butter). I sometimes add porridge oats to make them more textured and healthier.

A Sunday soundtrack?

Cerys Matthews on Radio 6. It sets a nice vibe.

Sunday culture must?

Watching a film at the Barbican is always a treat.

What’s on the menu?

Sunday roast – ideally chicken with stuffing and crispy roast potatoes. We’ll either go to our favourite local spot, The Good Reader in Crouch End, or cook at home with ingredients from Ally Pally Farmers Market.

And to drink?

We travelled around France last summer and filled the car boot with wine as we went. So we’re working our way through some nice Sancerre from the Loire and pinot noir from Auvergne.

Which brands do your wardrobe currently consist of?

As I’ve grown older, I’ve come to make more considered choices. I have a pair of Studio Nicholson jeans that I love and some great cardigans from APC and Universal Works that I bought for my husband, but now wear as much as he does.

What book are you currently reading?

Butter by Asako Yuzuki.
