Our In the Zone series is an opportunity to peek into the often private spaces in which we work, to learn how others organise themselves and create a habitat where they feel inspired.
In this edition we hear from Margo Selby, the British artist and designer working in woven textiles, known as much for her iconic homewares collection as her epic-scale artworks.
We first collaborated with Margo in 2018 and we are thrilled to welcome her back to help us mark our 10th anniversary with a brand new collaboration.

What’s the best workspace you’ve ever had?
I love the studio I have at the moment. It's on a industrial estate and we have gone for space. I really appreciate having more space. Its allowing me to scale up with my artworks and have more looms! Textile studios are notoriously hard to keep tidy so the space also allows us to keep everything organised.
The building is on fire - what single item do you grab from your desk?
Nothing - I'm not sentimental about belongings or stuff. I actually feel more creative and inspired in an empty space. Ive got too much in my head so an empty space helps me to apply my creativity.
What helps you concentrate?
I concentrate best with two things going on - one with my head and one with my hands. When Im weaving I like to chat to a friend or listen to a podcast. Having radio / chatter helps my hands to concentrate on the practical things, making / doing.

What is your earliest memory of paper?
Decorating the house with colourful paperchains with my sisters. Then as a teenager collaging my wall with magazine pics.
What makes a good notebook?
It needs to feel good, look good and fit in my bag.
What would be your top picks from Mark+Fold be?
The 2026 Diary in Mustard and the 2026 Wall Planner.

What do you love most about your work?
The variation, the making and the playful approach to colour.

What inspires you?
Colour and construction / constructing with colour.
What career advice would you give to your teenage self?
Slow down by 20% and keep a good record and archive of everything you do along the way.
What aspect of your work are you most proud of?
The incredible team that I have around me.
