In 2017 we have collaborated with woven textile designer, Margo Selby, on a very special edition of hand-made notebooks, combining our refined style with the riot of pattern and colour that Margo Selby brings. The jewel-like notebooks transpose a woven pattern into the medium of print, in a series of bold colours and using one of the largest and most intricate dies we have ever commissioned.
Margo Selby is a textile design studio known for its graphic, geometric, woven textiles. The Iceni print pattern is a stylised interpretation of handwoven diamond and birds-eye twills. In transposing this for print, we have represented the ‘warp and weft’ with a coloured paper ‘background' and bright coloured foils. The metallic finish changes as you turn the books in the light, much like Margo’s woven silk pieces.
The notebook covers are printed in Aberdeenshire, and the notebooks are hand-sewn at Mark+Fold’s London workshop. The coloured thread is visible on the spine to help you to organise notebooks by theme or project. Covers are made from Colorset, 100% recycled, made from post-industrial waste in the manufacture of till receipts in Germany.
Each book is individually numbered and wrapped in our signature style. Limited edition of 100 per colour, July 2017.

A5 Cloth-bound journal, 60 pages. Limited edition of 250 (February 2016).
The second in our series of Limited Edition notebooks, which each showcase special materials and binding techniques.
The pages are 'Singer-sewn' (on a sewing machine similar to those used to stitch fabric). There is then a 2-piece hard-back case, which is wrapped in natural book cloth, to create an unusual notebook combining the slimline quality of an exercise book with the elegance of a cloth-bound cover. Book cloth made in Holland. End papers in Flint grey Colorset, which is made in Germany from 100% post industrial waste.
Pages in Olin Smooth Cream, milled at the Stoneywood Paper Mill in Aberdeenshire, one of the last surviving mills on the River Don in Scotland. It is very smooth and a pleasure to write on.
Each notebook is hand-numbered. If you would like a specific number between 1 and 250, please include a note at checkout. (NB: Numbering is per batch and specific numbers are subject to availability. Higher numbers are more likely to be available).
Designed in London. Bound in Cheshire, UK.
